The “Ballpark Quote” in 3D Visualization is BS
Ballpark Quotes from 3D Visualization Studio: Why You Shouldn’t Take Them
Does this sound familiar?
Have you ever called or emailed a 3D studio asking, “How much will you charge for doing a couple of 3D renders?”, and you immediately receive a blatantly generic quote?
Well, you might still end up haggling for a few minutes, if not hours on the numbers till you reach an agreement. But can that take all of your problems away?
The answer is an absolute NO. Actually, you’ll still be grappling with the very same issues and on top of that, you’ll spend a few extra thousand bucks for nothing tangible.
This is a model that has been used by agencies for decades. And the truth of the matter is: most of them don’t really have your interest at heart.
They are simply there to make a name for themselves and perpetuate the same dirty cycle. In the end, you’ll be left wondering why their strategies didn’t help boost your brand, grow your audience or increase your sales.
But the problem is not really with them. It is YOU!
Some of the critical questions you should be asking yourself are:
- Are you just interested in getting a pretty offer?
- Or do you want to work with a creative consultant that will help you overcome the challenges affecting your brand?
Well, you already have the answer to that. But it takes a better understanding of your business to start steering in the right direction.
Check out what emails I get over and over again:
_Hi,_
I would like to get a quote on a 3D walk-through / fly-through video for our future development. We want the video to be the best quality possible. We need you to include moving people and cars.
Can you help us with that?
And how much can a two-minute video cost?
Thanks
Most of you might think that my possible reply would be, “Yeah, sure, that will cost you $xxx. Would you like me to start right away?”.
Now that’s downright scary:
If you didn’t see anything wrong with that reply, then chances are – you are not interested in growing your brand!
Did the 3D Studio Even Seek to Know You Better?
Let’s face it: there are currently a plethora of 3D studios out there ready to work up a cute proposal about 3D services, of which they believe you seriously need. But are they genuinely interested in helping you steer your brand in the right direction? If they did, they would seek to explore your challenges and give their best view on how they can solve them.
It should concern you how the 3D studio is quick to give a price quote, yet it doesn’t even have an iota of information regarding your business.
In marketing, and indeed in many service sectors, companies don’t start with the price as they work towards the solution. They usually start by crafting the solutions – based on the client’s unique needs – and then propose a favorable price for the job.

So, What Should You Expect To Hear From The 3D Studio?
Well, I would send a friendly response accompanied by questions that can help me better understand your company’s brand. This will help me understand the magnitude of the project right before we can jump in.
While 95 percent of the time people don’t reply, the 5 percent who do answer the questions with sincerity end up getting excellent services from me.
Let’s Dig A Little Deeper For Your Understanding…
Imagine you have a very bad cold that you’re unable to function properly. You grab a phone and call your doctor, explaining how the sneezing and wheezing hurts. And when you ask for medication, the doctor replies, “Oh yeah, you must be suffering from XYZ virus. So, I’ll call in a scrip and send you a bill right away”.
Really? Wouldn’t the doctor want to examine you in-person and ask questions to narrow down to the possible illness? Of course, there could be 20 or so things that can be wrong, which begs for diagnosis.
In medical practice, it’s even unethical to prescribe a treatment that may not help a patient. By now I guess, you can see where I’m coming from.
Just like in medical practice, 3D visualization marketing strategy requires one to serve clients genuinely by taking a certain professional and ethical approach. Much like a doctor, I’m tasked with the responsibility of diagnosing the problem, figuring out possible solutions, and then disclosing to the client the findings. That’s how problems are solved!
But if I don’t know your current business position and where you want to be in the future, how can I help boost or salvage your sales?
As a 3D visualization specialist, I aim to help clients put their business in order so that they receive a positive ROI. It’s simple as that.
Stick To Your Lane
As an Architect and Developer business owner, you are the only one who better understands the ins and outs of your business set up. But even if you know your business that well, you cannot possibly know the nitty-gritty of 3D visualization.
So, as a 3D Architectural Visualization specialist, I would advise you to do your part and let me do mine. To me, 3D visualization is what I do best. If we can really appreciate our strengths and work together, we can do an amazing job for your company.
That’s why you should always go out of your way to demand something more than just a price quote from a 3D studio. It all boils down to what you’ll get in the long run. If you choose to work with someone really interested in understanding and elevating your brand, then you’ll have so much to celebrate about your business both now and in the future.
3D visualization can cost you a few extra bucks, but make sure the service you get is worth every penny!
