Landscape architecture rendering
Case-study: Winter Camp
For this project, we were approached by a client who wanted to create a caravan camp high up in the Norwegian mountains. However, the company were facing objections from the local community who did not want their views of the valley to be spoiled. This is perfectly understandable, but what the client needed to do was show them that their view would not be affected to the extent that they may imagine, and that the camp would actually enhance their view, especially in winter time after snowfall.
We were able to use architectural 3D rendering to show residents what their view would be, and we incorporated all the seasons into this so they could see how the camp would look all year round. In order to create this, we set the camera angle to show the view of the valley as it would be seen by these residents.
This helped to reassure them that their view would not be affected, and our client felt that he had more support from the community once they were aware of this. Architectural 3D rendering made this possible, and it can also be used in a number of other ways, depending on the specific architectural needs that you have.
In terms of the actual work that we did to create the exterior 3D rendering, the process can be seen from the photos that have been provided.
The black images show the landscape 3D model as it would be viewed from human standing height. This was the starting point because we wanted to show people who were viewing the completed landscape architecture rendering exactly what they would see as they looked out across the valley.
However, at this point, the image would not provide much information to someone looking at it with an untrained eye, but the architects can begin to see exactly how the image is beginning to take shape. The next stage was to add some simple visualizations so that we could make sure that we were on the right path, and that things were going as we thought they would.
What sets us apart from other companies that carry out this service, is that this is not the end of the project for us. We replaced the simple images, which were fairly low quality, with more detailed, higher quality images as this provides a more realistic image of the view that will actually be seen. We also showed the same view during the summer and the winter so people can see what view they will be enjoying all year round.

These images also clearly show that many of the caravans in the camp will be completely out of sight behind the existing trees. In winter it is even harder to see them as they blend in with the snowfall.
